Autonomie des trottinettes électriques : distance annoncée et distance réelle

An electric scooter's advertised range is useful only when you know how it was measured. Before choosing a scooter for a commute, compare the exact battery configuration and test conditions with the distance you actually need to cover between charging opportunities.

This guide explains how to read a range claim and build a practical buying checklist. It does not report a Yisuntrek road test or promise a particular riding distance.

What does advertised electric scooter range mean?

A range figure describes a distance under a set of conditions. Those conditions matter as much as the number. For example, the official Segway F2 product manual specifies a full battery, a 75 kg load, 25°C temperature and an average speed of 16 km/h on pavement for its theoretical-range test. It separately defines a maximum-speed range test. These are examples of one manufacturer's testing, not specifications for Yisuntrek scooters.

Two listings with the same headline distance may therefore describe different tests. A useful comparison starts with the footnotes, the model version and the battery option rather than the largest number on the page.

Why your route may produce a different result

NIU's battery and range guide explains that its range limits are established under ideal laboratory conditions on flat roads, while rider weight, outdoor temperature and road conditions can change actual results. Treat these as variables to investigate for your own route, not as a formula for subtracting a fixed percentage from every scooter's advertised range.

Questions to ask before comparing range claims
Check Ask the seller Record for your route
Battery version Which exact configuration produced the quoted distance? The configuration you intend to order
Speed and mode What speed and riding mode were used? Your intended riding conditions
Load What rider or total test load was used? Your weight plus normal belongings
Terrain Was the test on a flat, paved route? Hills and surface changes along your trip
Temperature What was the test temperature? Your typical seasonal conditions
Evidence Is there a documented test for this version? Any gaps that remain unverified

Calculate the distance you need between charges

Start with a route calculation, then ask whether there is evidence that the selected scooter can cover it under comparable conditions. Include the return journey unless charging at your destination is confirmed.

Distance between charges = outbound trip + return trip + planned extra stops.

For a hypothetical commute of 7 km each way with a 2 km errand, the planned distance is 7 + 7 + 2 = 16 km. If you also want room for a possible 4 km detour, your shopping checklist becomes a 20 km route requirement. This is a planning example, not a tested scooter range or a universal reserve recommendation.

Write the required distance beside each candidate. If all you have is a headline catalog figure with no test conditions, mark the comparison as incomplete. Do not turn that number into a guaranteed commute by applying an arbitrary discount such as “every scooter achieves 70%.”

Compare the configuration, not just the model name

The Yisuntrek Giant Monster R8 illustrates why configuration matters: its product page lists different battery choices for the 60V and 72V versions. The page also identifies the selector's range figures as catalog estimates rather than guaranteed riding distances. Check the selected combination instead of combining the battery from one version with the range claim from another.

The cover image shows an R8 from the store's image library. It is a product illustration, not evidence of a range test or a specific battery capacity.

Motor count is a separate buying decision. Use our single vs dual motor electric scooter guide alongside this range checklist, and request range evidence for the exact setup you are considering.

A short message to send before buying

“My trip is ___ km between charging opportunities, including the return journey. My usual total load is ___, and my route includes ___. I am considering the ___ battery version. What conditions support its quoted range, and do you have a documented result that is comparable to my route?”

Keep the answer with the selected configuration details. When comparing the Yisuntrek scooter lineup, prioritize a version whose documented use conditions fit your trip. A clearly explained estimate is more useful for planning than an unexplained maximum.
